Quick Traffic Improvement Tips

Photo credit flickr.com/photos/burningimage/2363258975The toughest thing to do once you have an online business up and running is getting traffic to your website. The process of getting regular traffic to a website takes time and should be your primary area of concern.

Most people are used to the concept of working hard and then receiving immediate results from that work. The internet however doesn’t quite work that way. Some of the best and free traffic generating methods wont show any results for months down the road. This reason for this is that the search engines want a slow, natural and gradual progression of websites.

People use many different methods to get traffic flowing to their website. Some are paid and some are free, but what works for one person may not work the best for another. What you should do is try a few different methods until you find a method that really works for you, then use that method the most to increase your traffic. Here are a few tips to help get you started.

What works for me is the slow article drip method. What I do is first compile a list of keywords to use on my website or in my blog posts. These keywords have to be generally low in competition and have at least 1,000 or more searches per month. Then I will write an article for every keyword phrase I use on my website and submit that article to EzineArticles. The key here is to use the same keyword phrase in an anchor link pointing back to that specific post.

This will bring me a good amount of traffic after I repeat the process for a few months. The anchor link in the offsite article virtually guarantees that your website will stick on top of the search engines provided you use the SEO process correctly.

Another great way to get free traffic is by posting and contributing in forums. Forums are not only a great way to network and find joint venture business partners but when you can contribute meaningful posts, people will begin to trust your opinion and may even buy from you. All you have to do is put a link to your website in your signature so people can get there. This link should be hyper linked with your keywords so you can improve your search engine ranking as well.

As I said, there really are a lot of ways you can use to gain traffic to your website. Besides article marketing and forum posting, you can use press releases, traffic exchange programs, pay-per-click, and blog commenting to name just a few. Find one that works the best for you and use that method often.
