Monetize Your Business With Twitter
Signing up for a Twitter account is the easy part, but a Twitter user must make sure that the website that links to the Twitter account is one that could be beneficial to her business assuming she’s using the account to promote herself professionally.
Keep each post sent through Twitter of 140 character or less, called a “tweet,” on the topic of the business. For example, if the Twitter user is an author and the site links to her book, majority of the tweets should be luring readers in. This can be done by talking about the plot, where to purchase the book, locations for book signings, reviews from other readers, or discussion questions. While the Twitter user doesn’t want to shove pricing and “buy my product now” tweets down a follower’s throat, it is a good idea to send the occasional reminder about where to purchase the product.
The Twitter user should be receptive to followers who may not be the user’s traditional buying market because regardless of a target audience, there may be those customers who like a product who don’t fit the mold that the Twitter user originally considered. Don’t discriminate against any Twitter user who wants to follow the Twitter account, unless it’s a spammer. Try to incorporate Twitter within your site too, such as telling the followers they’ll get a 10% discount if they mention your Twitter URL when buying the product.
Most of all, make sure that the website is as up to date as the tweets because if they don’t agree, it may make a customer skeptical of the product and the business owner.
